Privacy Policy

PropPal is a Bluetooth controller app for holiday and Halloween animatronic props, developed by Ryan Roark. This privacy policy explains how the app handles your information.

Information We Collect

PropPal is designed with privacy in mind. Most of what it stores lives entirely on your device by default. If you choose to create an account (see Account Creation below), a limited amount of additional information is stored on our servers so your content can follow you to another device.

• Prop connections — the name and identifier of a Bluetooth prop you connect to, stored locally on your device so the app can reconnect to it later. Never leaves your device.
• Generated audio clips — clips you generate or record in Sound Studio are always stored on your device. If you create an account, they're also stored on our servers so they can sync to your other devices.
• Voice scripts (premium voices only) — if you generate a premium voice clip, the script text you type is sent to PropPal's backend, which forwards it to ElevenLabs to generate audio.
• Story descriptions (AI script writing only) — if you use the AI story-writing tool in Sound Studio, the short description you type is sent to our backend, which forwards it to Anthropic to generate a script.
• Anonymous device identifier — a random identifier generated on your device — not tied to your name, Apple ID, or any other personal information. Tracks your premium voice credit balance, and, if you haven't created an account, identifies this device to our servers.
• Account identity (optional) — only if you create an account: either your Apple ID's unique, app-specific identifier (via Sign in with Apple — we never receive your real Apple ID or password) or an email address you verify with a one-time code.
• Synced scripts, character profiles & saved props (optional) — only if you create an account: scripts you've written or generated, custom character profiles, and saved prop pairings, stored on our servers so they sync to your other signed-in devices.
• Device list (optional) — only if you create an account: which devices are signed in, their platform (iPhone/iPad or web browser), a name you can set, and when each was last active — so you can see and revoke access from devices you no longer use.

Account Creation (Optional)

Creating an account is never required to use PropPal — every feature works fully anonymously, on-device, without signing in. If you want your clips, scripts, character profiles, and saved props to follow you to another iPhone, iPad, or the web app, you can create an account via Sign in with Apple or by verifying an email address with a one-time code. You can sign out, rename, or revoke access for any device from Settings → Account at any time, including all devices at once.

Devices & Sessions

If you create an account, signing in issues a session that stays signed in on that device until you sign out. You can view every device signed into your account, rename them, revoke access for one device, or sign out of all of them at once from Settings → Account → Manage Devices. Signing out or revoking a device signs it out immediately and clears its locally synced clips, scripts, character profiles, and saved props — it needs to sign in again to sync.

Data Storage

On your device: saved props, generated audio clips, and preferences.

On our servers: your anonymous purchase identifier and credit balance. If you create an account, additionally: your account identity, device list, and synced clips, scripts, character profiles, and saved props.

Microphone

PropPal requests access to your microphone so you can record custom audio clips in Sound Studio. Recordings are only made when you explicitly start one, and the resulting clip is stored only on your device. PropPal does not access your microphone in the background.

In-App Purchases

PropPal offers premium voice credits as consumable in-app purchases. All purchases are processed by Apple through StoreKit. PropPal does not collect or store your payment information — billing is handled entirely by Apple and is subject to Apple's Terms of Sale. Purchase receipts are verified directly against Apple's own servers.

Analytics & Advertising

PropPal does not use any analytics SDKs, crash reporting services, or advertising networks. No usage data, behavioral data, or device identifiers are collected or transmitted by the app. The app contains no advertisements.

Third-Party Services

PropPal uses the following third-party services:

ElevenLabs

Used to generate premium voice audio. When you generate a premium clip, the script text you typed is sent to ElevenLabs via PropPal's backend. It is not stored by PropPal's backend beyond what's needed to complete the request. The free voice option runs entirely on-device via Apple's built-in text-to-speech and never leaves your phone.

Anthropic

Generates short spoken-word scripts from the description you type in the AI story-writing tool. Not stored by our backend beyond what's needed to complete the request.

Apple StoreKit

Processes and verifies premium voice credit purchases. All payment information is handled by Apple — see Apple's Terms of Sale for details.

Sign in with Apple

If you use it to create an account, handled entirely by Apple — we receive only an app-specific identifier and, optionally, an email address (which may be an Apple-provided private relay address if you choose to hide your real one).

Neon (database) & Cloudflare R2 (file storage)

If you create an account, your account identity, device list, and synced scripts and character profiles are stored in a Postgres database hosted by Neon, and your synced audio clips are stored as files in Cloudflare R2. Neither service is used unless you create an account.

Children's Privacy

PropPal does not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. The app does not require account creation or any personal information to use. If you believe a child under 13 has submitted information through the app, please contact us so we can address it.

Data Deletion

Deleting the PropPal app removes all locally stored data — saved props, and, if you never created an account, your generated audio clips and preferences — from your device. Signing out of a device (Settings → Account) stops that device from syncing, but does not delete your account or its content, since the same account may still be in use on another device. To request deletion of your account and all associated data — including synced clips, scripts, character profiles, saved props, the anonymous purchase identifier, and credit balance — contact us below.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this privacy policy from time to time. Any changes will be reflected on this page with an updated date. Continued use of the app after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
